急救
A boy fell ill. His organs were damaged by the radiation of an infrared ray stove. But before the ambulance arrived, a number of other injuries happened to this unlucky boy over and over again. First, he was choked by some poisonous liquid from the kettle on the cupboard. Then his wrist skin was burnt by electric shock. Finally, his ankle was cut by a pan.
有個(gè)孩子病倒了，他的體內(nèi)器官被一臺(tái)紅外線烤爐的放射線灼傷了。但是在救護(hù)車到來(lái)前，這個(gè)不幸的孩子身上還一而再、再而三地發(fā)生了許多別的傷害。開(kāi)始是被櫥柜上水壺里的有毒液體噎住，然后是手腕的皮膚被電擊燒傷，最后，一只平底鍋還割傷了他的腳踝。
Fortunately, the boy s nurse gave him proper temporary treatments according to his complex symptoms. She mildly squeezed the poisonous liquid out of his throat and put bandages firmly in place to apply pressure to the ankle wound to stop bleeding. As for the burn, she used scissors to remove his sleeve, poured a basin of cold water over the burn to cool it and put her hands on a damp blouse to cover his swollen tissue tightly. She also inspired his bravery to fight against the unbearable pain. Her first aid made a vital difference in saving his life. A ceremony was held to honour the nurse who overcame a variety of barriers to save the boy.

The boss is the largest
There was a guy who went into a shop to buy a parrot. There werethree parrots in the shop. One was $5,000; another one, $10,000; and the third one, $30,000. The customer asked the owner, How come this guy is $5,000? That’s so expensive for this kindof parrot.” The owner said, Because I have trained him and he can talk.” So the customer asked him, How about this guy? What can he do that makes him so expensive?” The owner said, Well, apart from talking, he can also do some amusing actions,like dancing and so on. Thats why hes so expensive.” Then the customer said, How about the third one? What canhe do that makes him so expensive?” The owner of the shopsaid, I don’t know. Normally, I have never heard him talk, nor dance, nor whistle, nor sing, nothing at all! But the other two call him ‘The Boss.’”

有個(gè)人到一間商店買鸚鵡。店里有三只鸚鵡，其中一只賣五千元，另一只賣一萬(wàn)元，還有一只賣三萬(wàn)元。顧客問(wèn)老板：「為什么這只要賣五千元?這個(gè)價(jià)錢對(duì)這種鸚鵡來(lái)說(shuō)太貴了!」老板說(shuō)：「因?yàn)槲矣杏?xùn)練他講話。」顧客又問(wèn)：「那這只呢?他會(huì)做什么?為什么要賣這么貴?」老板說(shuō)：「他除了會(huì)說(shuō)話之外，還會(huì)表演一些有趣的動(dòng)作，好比說(shuō)跳舞等等，所以才賣這么貴。」顧客接著又問(wèn)：「那第三只呢?他會(huì)做什么?為什么要賣這么貴?」老板說(shuō)：「我不知道。我從沒(méi)聽(tīng)過(guò)他講話、吹口哨或唱歌，也沒(méi)看過(guò)他跳舞，什么都沒(méi)有!不過(guò)另外兩只叫他：『老板!』」

Making His Mark
A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a river when he dropped his sword into the water carelessly. Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later. When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat. As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isn’t this a very foolish way to look for a sword?

楚國(guó)有個(gè)人坐船渡江時(shí)，他不小心把自己的一把寶劍掉落江中。他馬上掏出一把小刀，在寶劍落水的船舷上刻上一個(gè)記號(hào)。船靠岸后，那楚人立即從船上刻記號(hào)的地方跳下水去撈取掉落的寶劍。他怎么找得到寶劍呢?船繼續(xù)行駛，而寶劍卻不會(huì)再移動(dòng)。像他這樣去找劍，真是太愚蠢可笑了。
