A Woodman came into a forest to ask the Trees to give him a handle for Ax. It seemed so modest a request that the principal tree at once agreed to it, and it was settled among them that the plain, homely Ash should furnish what was wanted.
No sooner had the Woodman fitted the staff to his purpose ,then he began laying about him on all side.Felling the whole matter too late, whispered to the Cedar: "the first concession has lost all ;if we has not a sacrificed our humble neighbor, we might have yet stood for ages ourselves."
有一個(gè)樵夫來(lái)到森林里,要求樹給他一跟斧柄,看來(lái)他的請(qǐng)求非常謙虛,立刻得到了樹的首領(lǐng)的同意。他們決定由平凡而樸素的白楊樹來(lái)提供所需要的東西。
樵夫剛按好斧柄,就開(kāi)始到處亂砍,森林里的樹都砍倒了,樹林現(xiàn)在察覺(jué)大勢(shì)已去,就小聲對(duì)衫樹說(shuō):"第一次的讓步已失去了一切,如果我們不犧牲我們的小小的鄰居,我們自己還可以活無(wú)數(shù)年呢。"

One day a crow stood on a branch near his nest and felt very happy with the meat in his mouth.

At that time, a fox saw the crow with the meat, so he swallowed and eagerly thought of a plan to get the meat.
這時(shí)候,一只狐貍看見(jiàn)了烏鴉,饞得直流口水,非常想得到那片肉。

There were two pots on the bank of a river. One was made of brass, and the other was made of clay.

When the water rose they both floated off down the river. The earthen pot tried to stay away from the brass one.

So the brass pot cried out, "Fear nothing, friend, I will not hit you."

"But I may come in contact with you," said the earthen pot. "If I come too close, whether I hit you or you hit me, I shall suffer for it."

After that the earthen pot floated away.
