The oxen and the axletrees
A pair of Oxen were drawing a heavily loaded wagon along the highway, and, as they tugged and strained at the yoke, the Axletrees creaked and groaned terribly. This was too much for the Oxen, who turned round indignantly and said, “Hullo, you there! Why do you make such a noise when we do all the work?”
They complain most who suffer least.

幾頭公牛正用勁拉著超重的貨車在大路上行走,當(dāng)他們用勁拖拉貨車和牛軛時(shí),車軸被壓得吱吱作響。牛有點(diǎn)不耐煩了,回過(guò)頭對(duì)車軸說(shuō)道:“喂,朋友,我們正在努力地干活,你叫喚什么?”
寓意:沒(méi)受什么苦難的人往往最愛(ài)抱怨。
【第二篇:兩個(gè)口袋】
The Two Bags
Every man carries Two Bags about with him, one in front and one behind, and both are packed full of faults. The Bag in front contains his neighbours’ faults, the one behind his own. Hence it is that men do not see their own faults, but never fail to see those of others.

每個(gè)人生來(lái)都帶著兩個(gè)口袋,一個(gè)在前,一個(gè)在后,兩個(gè)口袋里都滿載缺點(diǎn)。前面那只口袋里裝的是別人的缺點(diǎn),而后面那只口袋里則裝滿的是自己的缺點(diǎn)。因此,人們總是看不見自己的缺點(diǎn),卻永遠(yuǎn)也不會(huì)忽視去看別人的缺點(diǎn)。
【第三篇:男孩和青蛙】
The Boys And The Frogs
One spring day some naughty boys were playing near a pond. They began to throw stones into the water. In the pond lived many frogs were much afraid of the boys, for the stones hurt some of the frogs. At last an old frog lifted his head out of the water and said, ¨Boys, please don‟t throw stones at us.〃The boys said, ¨We are only playing.〃 ¨I know that, but please stop throwing stones, my boys. What is play to you is death to us,〃 said the old frog. So the boys stopped throwing stones and went away.
