【第一篇：驢和買驢的人】
The ass and his purchaser
A man wanted to buy an ass. He went to the market, and saw a likely one. But he wanted to test him first.
So he took the ass home, and put him into the stable with the other asses. The new ass looked around, and immediately went to choose a place next to the laziest ass in the stable.
When the man saw this he put a halter on the ass at once, and gave him back to his owner.
The owner felt quite surprised. He asked the man, "Why are you back so soon? Have you tested him already?" "I don't want to test him any more," replied the man, "From the companion he chose for himself, I could see what sort of animal he is."

驢和買驢的人
一個(gè)買主到市場上去買驢，他看中一頭外表不錯(cuò)的驢，但是他想要牽走試一試。
他把驢牽回家，放在自己其他的驢之間，這驢四處看看，立即走向一頭好吃懶做的驢旁邊。
于是，買驢的人立刻給那頭驢套上轡頭，牽去還給驢的賣主。
賣主感到很奇怪，他問買主：“你怎么這么快就回來了?”買主說：“不必再試了，從他所選擇什么樣的朋友來看，我已經(jīng)知道他是什么樣了�！�
寓意: 物以類聚，人以群分。人們往往喜歡跟與自己相同的人交往，所以，我們可以根據(jù)一個(gè)人的朋友來推斷他的為人。
【第二篇：馬和驢】
The horse and the ass
A horse and an ass were traveling together. The horse was prancing along in its beautiful trappings, but the ass was carrying the heavy weight in its saddlebags. "I wish I were you," sighed the ass. "You have nothing to do, and wear such a beautiful harness."
The next day there was a great battle. The horse was badly wounded in the final charge.
The ass passed and saw the dying horse. "I was wrong," said the ass."Safety is much more important than beautiful clothes."

后來爆發(fā)了一場戰(zhàn)爭，馬在最后的沖鋒中不幸身受重傷。

寓意: 不要隨便羨慕別人，各人都有自己的生活，都有自己的幸福與不幸。
【第三篇：狐貍和公雞】
Fox and cock
One morning a fox sees a cock.He think,"This is my
breakfast.'' He comes up to the cock and says,"I know you can sing very well.Can you sing for me?''The cock is glad.He closes his eyes and begins to sing.The fox sees that and caches him in his mouth and carries him away. The people in the field see the fox.They cry,"Look,look!The fox is carrying the cock away.''The cock says to the fox,"Mr Fox,do you
understand?The people say you are carrying their cock away.Tell them it is yours.Not theirs.'' The fox opens his mouth ang says,"The cock is mine,not yours.''Just then the cock runs away from the fox and flies into the tree.

【第四篇：狼和羊】
The wolf and the sheep
A wolf had been badly wounded by dogs. He lay sick and maimed in his lair. He felt very hungry and thirsty. When a sheep passed by, he asked him to fetch some water from the stream.
"If you bring me the water," he said, "I will find means to get some food." "Yes," said the sheep, "if I bring you the water, you would undoubtedly make me your food."

狼被狗所咬，傷勢很嚴(yán)重，痛苦地躺在巢穴里，不能外出覓食。他感到又餓又渴，這時(shí)，他看見一只羊，便請求他到附近的小河里為他取一點(diǎn)水來。
“你給我一點(diǎn)水解渴”，他說，“我就能自己去尋找食物了�！薄笆茄健�，羊回答說，“如果我給你送水喝，那么我就會(huì)成為你的食物。”
寓意: 謊言是經(jīng)不起推敲的，它很容易被人們識破。
【第五篇：狐貍和葡萄】
Fox and the Grapes
One hot summer day a fox was walking through an orchard. He stopped before a bunch of grapes. They were ripe and juicy.
"I'm just feeling thirsty," he thought. So he backed up a few paces, got a running start, jumped up, but could not reach the grapes.
He walked back. One, two, three, he jumped up again, but still, he missed the grapes.
The fox tried again and again, but never succeeded. At last he decided to give it up.
He walked away with his nose in the air, and said“I am sure they are sour.”

一個(gè)炎熱的夏日，狐貍走過一個(gè)果園，他停在一大串熟透而多汁的葡萄前。
狐貍想：“我正口渴呢�！庇谑撬笸肆藥撞�，向前一沖，跳起來，卻無法夠到葡萄。
狐貍后退又試。一次，兩次，三次，但是都沒有得到葡萄。
狐貍試了一次又一次，都沒有成功。最后，他決定放棄，他昂起頭,邊走邊說：“葡萄還沒有成熟，我敢肯定它是酸的�！�
寓意: 在經(jīng)歷了許多嘗試而不能獲得成功的時(shí)候，有些人往往故意輕視成功，以此來尋求心理安慰。
