《新約》的四卷，記敘耶穌基督的生平和受難。即〈馬太福音〉、〈馬可福音〉、〈路加福音〉和〈約翰福音〉四卷，排在《新約》之首，約占全書(shū)一半篇幅。前三卷常又稱(chēng)為〈同觀福音〉（Synoptic Gospels），因?yàn)閿⑹聝?nèi)容大同小異。
