Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
Conduct product modification bench work for ILS productsCreate and conduct ini
tial field testing with selected customers, of new products and/or manufacturi
ng processes to meet market business objectives for ILS products
 Review and select appropriate raw materials for new products and repl
acement alternatives for existing products
 Develop and maintain appropriate records of formula, process methods,
product specification standards and analytical methods
 Advise and assist manufacturing units in blending and control of abov
e mentioned product groups
 Maintain OD&I database with relevant information about modification p
rojects, trials, formulations, raw material information and analytical methods
 Maintain Streamline and Fusion databases
 Represent and promote the interests of the company by serving on appr
opriate internal technical meetings, HSSE meetings etc appropriate to your pos
ition.
 Ensure all products, product applications and technology advice, with
your product group responsibility complies with statutory, occupational health and safety and company requirements as applicable
 Provide training as required to other BP staff on items such as produ
ct manufacturing testing etc., and the application of scientific methods.
 Liaise with suppliers to organise additives and other components requ
ired for laboratory work
 Undertake analysis of competitor products/field samples and interpret
the resultant data
 Provide technical support for production plant quality control troubl
eshooting
 Undertake customer service testing as required
Key HSSE Responsibilities associated with Role
• Comply with all BP’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
policies and procedures including, wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE); accident, injury incident and near miss reporting; and the correct use of equipment
• Comply with all HSSE directions of your line manager or HSSE Manager
• Participate in HSSE training and discussions, workplace inspections an
d audits, and assist in the resolution of health and safety issues as required
• Contribute to successful implementation of HSSE programmes and initiat
ives In addition to the above, outline the HSSE responsibilities specific to this role
• Manage material safety data for ILS products and associated raw materi
als. Ensure that they meet current ASCC (IECS in China?) requirements
• Manage risk assessments for new raw materials used in manufacturing
• Manage risk assessments for all new samples into laboratory and all new tasks perform

Requirements:
A science degree, or higher, majoring in chemistry , preferably organic chemistry
A demonstrated ability to evaluate complex technical problems and provide cost effective workable solutions .The position reports to the ILS Technical Support Manager, China
