Making His Mark
A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a river when he dropped his sword into the water carelessly. Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later. When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat. As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isnt this a very foolish way to look for a sword?

A mouse once took a bite out of a bull's tail as he lay dozing。 The bull jumped up in a rage and， with his head low to the ground， chased the mouse right across the yard。 The mouse was too quick for him， however， and slipped easily into a hole in the wall。
The bull charged the wall furiously again and again， but although he bruised his head and chipped his horns， the mouse stayed safely inside his hole。 After a time the bull gave up and sank down to rest again。
As soon as the bull was asleep， the little mouse crept to the mouth of the hole， pattered across the yard， bit the bull again -- this time on the nose -- and rushed back to safety。 As the bull roared helplessly the mouse squeaked:
"It's not always the big people who e off best。 Sometimes the small ones win， you know。"
老鼠和公牛
有一次，公牛躺著打盹，一只老鼠咬了他的尾巴。公牛怒氣沖沖地跳起來(lái)，低著頭追老鼠，一向追過(guò)院子。然而，老鼠跑得比他快多了，從容地鉆到墻洞里去了。

Long ago, there were four blind people. They wanted to know what elephants looked like. Because of the blindness, they could only touch the elephant.
從前，有四個(gè)盲人很想知道大象是什么樣子，可他們看不見(jiàn)，只好用手摸。
The fat blind person touched the elephant’s ivory first. He said: “ Oh, I see! The elephant is big, thick and smooth, just like the carrots.”
胖盲人先摸到了大象的牙齒。他就說(shuō)：“我知道了，大象就像一個(gè)又大、又粗、又光滑的大蘿卜�！�
The tall blind person touched the elephant’s ear and yelled: “ No, no, no. The elephant is a big fan!”
高個(gè)子盲人摸到的是大象的耳朵。“不對(duì)，不對(duì)，大象明明是一把大蒲扇嘛!”
The short blind person touched the elephant’s leg. He said: “ You are all wrong! The elephant is a pillar.”
他大叫起來(lái)。“你們凈瞎說(shuō)，大象只是根大柱子�！痹瓉�(lái)矮個(gè)子盲人摸到了大象的腿。
The old blind person said: “ The elephant is not that big. It’s just like a rope.” He was touching the elephant’s tail.
而那位年老的盲人呢，卻嘟嚷：“唉，大象哪有那么大，它只不過(guò)是一根草繩�！痹瓉�(lái)他摸到的是大象的尾巴。
The four blind people were arguing endlessly. Each of them said he himself was right. We all know that none of them is right.
四個(gè)盲人爭(zhēng)吵不休，都說(shuō)自己摸到的才是大象真正的樣子。而實(shí)際上呢?他們一個(gè)也沒(méi)說(shuō)對(duì)。
這個(gè)故事告訴我們：不能只看到事物的一部分，而應(yīng)看全局，那樣才能全面和真實(shí)的了解事物的情況。
We should look at the whole picture instead of only seeing part of it. Only in that way can we fully and truly understand the situation of things.

One day an old man is selling a big elephant. A young man comes to the elephant and begins to look at it slowly. The old man goes up to him and says in his ear,
一天，一位老人正在賣一頭大象。一位年輕人來(lái)到大象跟前慢慢的觀察著。老人上前在年輕人耳邊輕語(yǔ)，
“Don’t say anything about the elephant before I sell it; then I will give you some meat.”
“在我把大象賣出去之前你一句話也不要說(shuō)，那么我會(huì)給你一些肉。”
“All right.” says the young man.
“好的。”那位年輕人說(shuō)。
After the old man sells the elephant, he gives the young man some meat and says, “How can you see the bad ears of the elephant?”
老人賣出大象之后，他給了年輕人一些肉然后說(shuō)，“你是怎么看到大象的壞耳朵的?”
“I didn’t see the bad ears,” says the young man.
“我沒(méi)有看到壞耳朵，”年輕人說(shuō)。
“Then why do you look at the elephant slowly?” asks the old man.
“那你為什么要慢慢地看著大象?”老人問(wèn)。
The young man answers, “Because I have never seen an elephant before, and I want to know what it looks like.”
年輕人回答：“因?yàn)槲抑皬臎](méi)見(jiàn)過(guò)大象，我想知道它長(zhǎng)什么樣子。”

The Sports Meeting in the Forest
There are many animals in the forest. Today is a fine day. Animals are having a sport meeting.
Monkey, Fox, Panda, Rabbit and Bear are running. Look! Rabbit is the first. Fox and Monkey are the second. Bear is the third. The other animals are shouting, “Bear! Come on! Bear! Come on!” And look there, Duck and Pig are doing high jump. Pig is too fat, he can’t jump very high. So Duck is the champion. Here! Cat and Squirrel are climbing a tree. Cat is ill. So he is the last, but he does his best.
This sports meeting is wonderful. The animals are very happy!
