Chinese teahouses would be the equivalent of French cafes and English pubs. People come here not just for tea, but also to discuss local news or to have furious political debates.
難點注釋
1.漢語形散神聚，英文結構緊湊。處理第一句時，可以將幾個小短句合譯為一句結構嚴謹?shù)挠⑽�。先確定句子的主謂賓，其中Tea thinking作句子主語，is可作系動詞，本句中有兩個并列表語，即“儀式”和“展示”，分別譯為：ritual，demonstration。
2.第二句中，“領略”可以譯為：take delight in;“品茶的情趣之意”可以譯為：the essence of tea itself。
3.第三句中的“打發(fā)時間的方式”可以理解為“消遣、娛樂方式”，可譯為：a way of pastime.
4.第四句中的“相當于”可以用短語be the equivalent of來表達。

關于吃月餅這個傳統(tǒng)的來歷有兩個傳說。一個是唐朝的神話故事，說的是當時地球被10個太陽包圍著。有一天10個太陽同時出現(xiàn)在天空中，巨大的熱量幾乎把地球烤焦了。多虧一位名叫后羿的神箭手射下了9個太陽，地球才被保住。為了獎勵后羿，王母娘娘賜給后羿一種長生不老藥，但是王母警告他必須正當使用。然而后羿沒有理會王母娘娘的警告，他被名利沖昏了頭腦，變成了一個暴君。后羿美麗的妻子嫦娥對他的暴行再也不能袖手旁觀，于是她偷走了后羿的長生不老藥，飛到月亮上逃避后羿的狂怒。從此就有了關于月宮仙子嫦娥，這個月亮上的美麗女人的傳說。

我們在翻譯“關于......”的時候，最常用的就是about，而本句翻譯用了which引導定語從句claim to explain......，換一種表達方式，可以讓句式更新穎。大家可以記住這個用法哦。
一個是唐朝的神話故事，說的是當時地球被10個太陽包圍著。

hold在這里用的很地道，漢語的兩個半句，翻譯成英文，用一個that就給銜接上了，可見翻譯時，不必拘泥于原漢語句子的結構，如果自己能把意思表達很到位，而且句式很清晰，就可以嘗試。
注意“被包圍”本句中的翻譯用了had 10 suns circling it。
有一天10個太陽同時出現(xiàn)在天空中，巨大的熱量幾乎把地球烤焦了。
One day all 10 suns appeared at once, scorching the planet with their heat.
“有一天”翻譯為one day，其實并沒有什么奇特之處。
“同時出現(xiàn)”appeared at once，這個at once還可以表示“同時”，大家切記哦。
其實漢語的兩個半句，翻譯過來可以用兩個完整的英語句子來表示，但這里的翻譯退而求其次，用了現(xiàn)在分詞scorching引導的伴隨狀語，表示一種結果，不失為很好的翻譯方式哈。
多虧一位名叫后羿的神箭手射下了9個太陽，地球才被保住。
It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hou Yi that the Earth was saved. He shot down all but one of the suns.
注意“多虧”的翻譯是It was thanks to。這的翻譯大家看下英語的后半句，漢語里有“9”這個數(shù)字，但翻譯過來，卻只有一個數(shù)字one，但表示的意思卻相同-剩下了一個太陽。翻譯有時候就是這么奇特，沒有特定的標準。
為了獎勵后羿，王母娘娘賜給后羿一種長生不老藥，但是王母警告他必須正當使用。
As his reward, the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hou Yi the Elixir of Immortality, but she warned him that he must use it wisely.
本句翻譯很簡單，中英翻譯比較平衡。注意幾個專有名詞。

然而后羿沒有理會王母娘娘的警告，他被名利沖昏了頭腦，變成了一個暴君。
Hou Yi ignored her advice and, corrupted by fame and fortune, became a tyrannical leader.
翻譯這個句子時，首先要考慮到用何種句式，能夠使自己的翻譯看起來清晰明了而不繁瑣。這里用了and，連接兩個動詞過去式引導的分句。
沒有理會也就是忽視，ignore。
名利：fame and fortune
暴君： a tyrannical leader
后羿美麗的妻子嫦娥對他的暴行再也不能袖手旁觀，于是她偷走了后羿的長生不老藥，飛到月亮上逃避后羿的狂怒。
Chang-Er, his beautiful wife, could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath.
本句翻譯中用了兩個and，來銜接句意，英語就是這么注重前后的銜接。
